Snapping Turtle Farm

About this job
Snapping Turtle Farm is seeking full-time and part-time crew members for its 2026 season in Cranbury, New Jersey. This independent certified-organic farm grows more than 80 varieties of vegetables and herbs for regional farmers markets and deliveries to local families. The season runs from April through December, giving crew members the opportunity to follow crops from spring transplanting through summer production and late-season harvest and packing.
Field and crop responsibilities
⢠Transplant vegetable and herb starts carefully and at the spacing directed by the farm manager
⢠Weed beds and crop rows by hand or with the tools provided for each assignment
⢠Harvest produce at the correct size, maturity, and quality for customers
⢠Move full harvest containers while protecting crops from bruising or other damage
⢠Help maintain orderly field edges, paths, work areas, and harvest supplies
⢠Shift between repetitive production work and other seasonal farm tasks as priorities change
Wash and pack work
Crew members wash, sort, organize, and pack vegetables and herbs for market and household delivery. This work requires close attention to cleanliness, quality, and quantities. Produce must be handled carefully, packed in the correct container, and kept organized by destination. Employees may also help clean harvest bins, tools, packing surfaces, and storage areas so each workday begins with safe, ready-to-use equipment.
Small-team expectations
Snapping Turtle Farm wants people who can cooperate with the crew while also completing assignments independently after training. A good attitude, willingness to learn, consistent attendance, and respect for coworkers are essential. Employees should listen closely to instructions, ask questions when a task is unclear, maintain a useful pace, and communicate crop or equipment problems before they become larger issues.
Farming experience is desired but not required. The farm places particular value on a genuine interest in agriculture and food. Applicants should be ready to learn the farm's organic production standards and understand that the details of transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing directly affect crop health and customer quality.
Physical and transportation requirements
This is active outdoor work throughout the growing season. Regular bending, lifting, stretching, reaching below the waist, and reaching overhead are part of the job. Applicants must be able to lift and carry 40 pounds and work outside for a full day in changing New Jersey weather. Employees need reliable daily transportation to the Cranbury farm, must arrive on time, and must remain for the entire scheduled shift.
Schedule and compensation
Both full-time and part-time seasonal positions are available from April through December with a consistent weekly schedule. The employer notes that full-time crew should be prepared for outdoor work five days per week. The public hiring page does not state the hourly wage, expected daily start and end times, benefits, or exact part-time schedule. Candidates should ask about these items during the interview and confirm all employment terms before accepting an offer.
How to apply
Email farm manager Allison directly at allison@snappingturtlefarm.com. Include a resume or complete job history and a short, specific note explaining why you would be a good addition to the farm crew. Mention your availability through December, transportation, previous outdoor or production experience, and any familiarity with vegetable harvesting, organic agriculture, farmers markets, or wash-and-pack work.
